Palestinian Heritage Festival kicks off at Katara

The third edition of Palestinian Heritage Festival kicked off at Katara on Friday with display of Palestinian history and culture.
The festival, which was inaugurated by the Ambassador of Palestine to Qatar HE Monir Abdulla Ali Ghannam, aims to promote brotherhood and friendship between Palestine and Qatar.
Organised with the cooperation of the Palestinian Qatari Friendship Association and the Katara Cultural Village, the festival showcases Palestinian history and culture through traditional dance and musical performances by local artistes. Palestinian agro produce and handicrafts by Palestinian artisans, especially brought from their home country, are also on display at the festival.
The highlight of the weeklong festival will be the presentation of a fashion show, popular Palestinian folk songs, including the debkah dance, and opportunity for the audience to taste some of the traditional cuisine.
Talking to Qatar Tribune, the Palestinian envoy said,"I am very happy to participate in this festival that promotes the cause of our people by highlighting their identity and historical roots in the current context which I believe is worthy of appreciation."
Emad Abu Zulif, chairman of the Palestinian Qatar Friendship Association, said, compared to previous years, this year's festival has been bigger in scale."There are around 40 participants who have come from Palestine to take part in this festival."
A participant representing Mawassem dealing in the handmade organic food products said,"I am happy to participate in this show and hope to sell our organically produced products in the Qatari market. I hope to find a Qatari partner for a long-term business for our products in this market."
The festival will continue until April 15.
